Rule 79
Extraordinary Family Pension and Gratuity

(1) If a police officer dies immediately due to an accident in the course of government work, or if he dies later without recovery due to the same, his spouse or a person who is determined to be entitled to a pension or gratuity according to this regulation shall receive half of the salary earned by such police officer and family pension as follows Extraordinary family gratuity will also be given:-
(a) An amount equal to six months' salary received by him in case of death before completion of ten years of service,
(b) An amount equal to the ninth month's salary which he has received on death after completing a service period of more than ten years and less than twenty years,
(2) According to sub-rule (1), the husband or wife and father, mother of the deceased police officer shall receive the extraordinary family pension for life, and in the case of a son or unmarried daughter, until he reaches the age of twenty-one or until the date of his entry into government service, whichever is earlier. > (3) When there is an increase in the salary of the existing Nepal Police personnel, the amount of the extraordinary family pension and gratuity as per sub-rule (1) shall also be increased by the percentage increase in the starting salary of the police personnel of the same level.
(4) For the purpose of this rule, the widowed husband or widowed wife of a police officer shall be recognized only in the following cases:—
(a) Before the incident of death due to the above-mentioned causes, the marriage relationship with such police officer should have been completed.
(b) At the time of the death of the police officer, he must have been living with him.
